Change to game play style.

During past few weeks I've made a lot of change to the game mechanic. The reason is very simple the old gameplay is not fun and engaging enough to make player stay to for for longer than 5 mins.

it's a sad story but true.

When you making game in order to know whether your game is fun or not you've already finish making that game. I'm feel like I've to start over from the beginning again.


New concept

I've decide to change the orientation from portrait to landscape so that player can see longer and can plan their decision. 

I've learn to know that decision making is the core fun of every game. The old game not giving player enough decision choice for each situation, player only need to collect the resource need to continue. 

In this new one player can shoot,reload,hide,run,change weapon,use item, etc. This bring a lot more choice for player to cope with trouble. It's also making a reward more rewarding.

Update of current project. More on Borderlands 2 less on Diablo 3.


Abbie project is progressing very slowly during pass few weeks.
There're many reason behind a slow down period... many reason trust me.

No this not the only reason..

I've decided to make many change to the current design. The old one have a loot system based on Diablo 3 but after playing borderlands 2 I think this one got it better.

In Borderlands 2 a loot you get usually not a game changer even if you find a good weapon but if it's not suit to your playing style it'll just go directly to nearest vending machine.

What I like about Borderlands 2 loot system is that when you slain a boss you can expect (to certain degree) what loot you'll get. The reward player get for finish a quest is also nice enough to be use with every play style.

Another thing that I change is the location of the event in the game.

Thank you Google for making this map.

I've based my location not in a main land but to an island instead this give a better feeling of isolation. I also change a role of main character from "A girl who have to survive a horde of zombie" to "A girl who help many people survive a horde of ZOMBIE!" (we need a capital letter here since it's a bigger zombie) 

The game interface was a very hard one to make. A lot of study and trial leave nothing that click my head. still a long way to go to make it right. 

The current very ugly interface..(sigh)..

Abbie still have run a lot before this game is finish but I'll work my hardest to bring this game out before December.

New project start!

I'm starting on my next project. involve a lot of zombies.





The game is about Abbie Richmond, a not so normal school girl. After a zombie outbreak begin she has been trapped in the city overrun by zombies. During a thirty days of her surviving (in which your decision will effect the result) she have to gather supplies, find food, make weapon and fight against the horde.


 

Game play is a mix of ARPG and puzzle you not control your character directly but assist her in her task like collect bullets to reload, medi kit to heal Etc. Collecting thing by playing a tile match puzzle like Bejewel

Current stage of develop.
Graphic: in progress.
Sound: in progress.
Concept: complete.
Coding: quite a lot.
Testing: all the time.

It's done and waiting to be review!

OX Rush is done!

My first game even if it a very simple one but it is a very big step for me.




I'm now very excite on moving to my bigger project. Feel like me dream day are coming closer a little.

Road to create my First RPG!

It's been my life time dream since I first play a Dragon Quest that one day I'll create a good game like that. But as the day pass by life must go on and my dream seem to fade away. Reality may be hash and many time you have to do the thing you don't want to because it feed your stomach.



Until I found this picture on HERE

It just an April's Fool of someone put a lot of effort to make an Earthbound Mix With Chrono Triggers.
Both games are mine favorites RPG of all times. So seeing this picture spark my brain and remember my youth when playing a game and imagine what it like if this game is like this not that.
Technology to say can make it feel so real that it should be really happen.
"So why not make it happen then?" my curious voice ask myself.

To make a game you need a lot of dedications not to mention if working by myself like me. To make thing worst gaming market to day make it harder to make your game visible to the market if you are not lucky.

I read THIS articles about gaming market of mobile device and feel like I'm hitting a wall.

I'm asking my self if I've to devote myself developing a game I like but end up sale it for only small amount is that still worth doing?

The answer is .... not sure.

But to somebody like me. This is the road that I take.

Start on my first game project!

after very long time of learning I finally design to start my FRIST GAME!

I call it OX Rush!


It is a simple Tic Tac Toe with some twist you not playing against AI but race against time.


You enter a correct answer to each random set when correct  a new set appear you get a score and a little more time.
Still in a very beginning stage of development but quite fun. Look to add more challenge  and reward to player.
